Bridging Safety and Dreams in Apayao
When we care with empathy and act in unity, we do not just accomplish projects; we build stronger communities. – Unknown
The Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to strengthen its flagship program, the Revitalized-Pulis sa Barangay (R-PSB) that aims to support community activities and promote peace and development particularly in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs). This initiative, expanded from Pulis Nyo Po sa Barangay into R-PSB in 2019, aligning with the objectives of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) and is anchored on Executive Order No. 70, which institutionalizes the Whole-of-Nation Approach in building sustainable peace initiatives across the country.
Recognizing the significance of R-PSB and its impact on community safety, the personnel of the 1st Apayao Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), under the leadership of Force Commander PLtCol Dominador D. Mauricio, once again proved that true public service goes beyond uniforms and mandates. Through a simple yet life-changing project called “Tulay para sa Makabagong Pag-asa”, they brought hope and opportunity to the people of Sitio Coliman in Barangay Upper Atok, Flora, Apayao on August 26, 2025.

For years, young students and residents endured the challenge of crossing a small, dangerous stream just to reach their schools and other parts of the community. Every step across the slippery rocks was filled with risk, especially during heavy rains when the water surged and the path became treacherous. What should have been a simple journey to education or livelihood often turned into a daily struggle for safety.

Moved by this pressing concern, the 1st Apayao PMFC joined hands with the Barangay Council of Upper Atok to build a wooden bridge—one that would ease daily burdens and restore peace of mind to families. What was once a hazard has now become a safe, sturdy, and reliable passageway.

More than a just structure of wood and nails, this bridge stands as a symbol of hope and compassion. It serves as a gateway to education for the youth, a channel of opportunity for the community, and a link that strengthens trust and fosters a formidable partnership between the general public and the police.

This initiative truly embodies the essence of “Tulay para sa Makabagong Pag-asa”—a reminder that even the simplest acts of service can transform lives. Through compassion, unity, and genuine concern, the men and women of the police force have shown that building bridges is not only about connecting places but also uniting hearts while shaping a brighter future for generations to come.
