For the men and women of the Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5), keeping the Bicol Region safe is not just part of the job, it is a calling.
Under the leadership of Police Brigadier General Nestor C. Babagay Jr., Regional Director, the Kasurog Cops have stepped up their relentless campaign against criminality, working tirelessly to uphold the rule of law and protect every Bicolano. In line with the directive of Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. Acting Chief, PNP, to sustain the campaign against illegal drugs and intensify operations to apprehend wanted individuals, PRO5 has adopted innovative strategies and proactive policing measures designed to curb crime, arrest offenders, and maintain public order.
From January 1 to August 25, 2025, PRO5 recorded a total of 2,952 arrests of wanted persons for various charges. Among them were one national-level fugitive, 135 at the regional level, 125 at the provincial level, 70 at the city level, 366 at the municipal level, and 2,255 classified as other wanted individuals. These accomplishments were achieved through continuous manhunt operations, enhanced investigative work, and dedication of the Kasurog Cops to ensure that offenders are held accountable under the law.

Recognizing that police visibility is a key deterrent to crime, PRO5 has also intensified its Oplan Presensya operations by deploying regular bike and motorcycle patrols across urban centers, barangays, and even far-flung communities. This increased presence has strengthened public trust, as residents now view their local police not just law enforcers but also partners in public safety—allies they can rely on in times of need. This collaborative approach has transformed residents into valuable partners in the fight against criminality, resulting in more effective crime prevention and faster apprehension of suspects.

The Kasurog Cops’ commitment to justice was recently highlighted during an operation in Quezon City on September 1, 2025, where operatives arrested the 10th Regional Most Wanted Person in Bicol, known as alias “Jeff.” The suspect was charged of Qualified Rape involving a Minor under Criminal Case No. 34188, a grave offense with no bail recommended. As of this writing, he is under the custody of the Daet Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
With nearly 3,000 wanted persons apprehended in just eight months, PRO5’s success underscores its relentless pursuit of justice in the region. However, the campaign against criminality is more than just about numbers, it is about restoring hope, protecting families, and ensuring that every Bicolano feels safe in their community.
Through continuous innovation, enhanced investigative efforts, and strengthened community partnerships, PNP reaffirms its commitment to uphold the rule of law and deliver justice, paving the way for a Bagong Pilipinas.
