The Nation’s Peacekeeper, led by Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Acting Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), strengthens its campaign to eradicate smuggling and other forms of illicit trade that undermine national security and economic stability. Through intensified intelligence gathering, strengthened interagency coordination, and decisive enforcement actions, PNP remains steadfast in its mission to protect the country’s borders and uphold the integrity of lawful commerce.
Demonstrating this strong commitment, PNP achieved another breakthrough through a successful anti-smuggling operation conducted on October 21, 2025, at around 11:30 PM in Barangay Dumoy, Davao City. The coordinated effort involved several PNP units, including the Davao City Forensic Unit (CFU), Regional Field Unit 11 of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Regional Highway Patrol Unit11 of the PNP Highway Patrol Group, Regional Maritime Unit11 of the PNP Maritime Group, and Police Station 17 of the Davao City Police Office.
The operation resulted in the arrest of four suspects and the seizure of 403 master cases of suspected smuggled cigarettes, a Fuso truck, an Isuzu vehicle, and assorted cellular phones with the total value of the seized items amounting to Php14,675,000.00. As of this writing, the suspects and the recovered evidence are currently under the custody of the CIDG Davao CFU for appropriate legal action.

PLtGen Nartatez commended the joint police units for their exemplary performance, emphasizing that such accomplishments highlight the PNP’s commitment in enforcing the law and protecting public welfare.
“Operations like this are a testament to the dedication of our police forces in protecting both the law and the people’s welfare. We will continue to dismantle illegal networks that harm our communities and our economy,” he stated.
PNP reiterates its pledge to remain vigilant against all forms of smuggling and economic sabotage. These operations not only protect legitimate businesses but also help preserve national revenue and sustain public trust. With the continued support of its partner agencies and the community, PNP aims to create a safer and more transparent trading environment for all Filipinos in line with the vision of a Bagong Pilipinas.
