PNP Awards Civilian Informants for Vital Role in Anti-Criminality Efforts

Demonstrating its unwavering commitment to public safety and community partnership, the Philippine National Police (PNP), under the leadership of PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., held the Handover of Monetary Reward Ceremony on May 4, 2026, at Camp BGen Rafael T Crame in Quezon City.

Also present during the event were Police Lieutenant General Edgar Alan O. Okubo, Deputy Chief PNP for Operations; Police Major General Wilson Joseph F. Lopez, Director for Intelligence; and other key PNP officials and personnel.

The ceremony recognized civilian informants whose valuable information significantly contributed to the successful arrest of wanted individuals involved in various serious criminal offenses. These cases included murder, rape, kidnapping, terrorism financing, and violations of child protection and illegal drug laws. Through their cooperation and willingness to assist authorities, the informants became instrumental in advancing law enforcement operations and ensuring that fugitives were brought to justice.

As part of the ceremony, the PNP formally awarded a total of Php4,145,000 in monetary rewards to qualified civilian informants. The initiative underscored the organization’s strong recognition of the indispensable role of citizens in supporting crime prevention, intelligence gathering, and overall efforts to maintain peace and order across the country.

In his message, PGen Nartatez emphasized that the ceremony represented more than the distribution of financial incentives. According to the PNP Chief, the event symbolized the courage, civic responsibility, and trust shared between the police organization and the Filipino people. He stressed that public cooperation remains one of the most essential components of crime prevention and resolution efforts, noting that no police organization can fully accomplish its mission without the active support and participation of the community it serves.

He further emphasized that the reward system serves as an important mechanism for strengthening the PNP’s intelligence and investigative capabilities. By encouraging individuals to provide credible information, the program enhances the organization’s capacity to locate wanted persons and prevent further criminal activities. At the same time, it assures the public that their contributions to law enforcement efforts are recognized, valued, and protected by the government.

PGen Nartatez also reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to the PNP Focused Agenda, which prioritizes discipline, integrity, modernization, operational capability, and stronger partnerships with the community. He noted that these strategic priorities are essential in building a more responsive, effective, and accountable police organization capable of addressing the country’s evolving peace and security concerns.

The Handover of Monetary Reward Ceremony likewise served as a reminder that ensuring public safety is a shared responsibility. Through strengthened cooperation between law enforcement authorities and the public, the PNP continues to foster an environment in which citizens are empowered to help maintain peace and order within their communities.

As the organization advances its anti-criminality campaign, PNP remains steadfast in promoting programs that encourage public involvement and reinforce community trust. Guided by the vision of a “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman,” the Nation’s Peacekeepers continue to pursue safer communities through collective vigilance, strengthened partnerships, and a shared commitment to justice and national security.
