PNP Champions Wellness and Community Partnership at Subic International Marathon 2026

Recognizing that effective policing goes beyond law enforcement and is deeply rooted in personnel wellness and strong community partnerships, the Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to support initiatives that promote physical fitness, camaraderie, and public engagement. A healthy and well-connected police force remains essential in delivering responsive, people-centered, and trustworthy service—principles that guide the PNP’s ongoing organizational transformation.

In line with this commitment, the PNP actively participated in the Subic International Marathon (SIM) 2026, held at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone on February 7, 2026, marking the opening of the two-day sporting event scheduled from February 7 to 8. The activity brought together participants from various government agencies, private institutions, and local communities in a shared celebration of health, discipline, and unity, guided by this year’s theme, “Run with Heart and Purpose.”

The marathon served as a platform to promote an active lifestyle and strengthen collaboration between government institutions and the communities they serve. It highlighted the importance of physical fitness, mental resilience, and teamwork, qualities that are vital not only in sports but also in the daily performance of police duties.

Police Lieutenant General Bernard M. Banac, Deputy Chief PNP for Administration, represented PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. and led the ceremonial activities on the opening day of the marathon. He emphasized that participation in events like SIM reflected the PNP’s commitment to the well-being of its personnel and reinforced police–community relations. Engaging in inclusive, health-oriented activities cultivated trust, mutual respect, and a shared sense of responsibility for public safety, which are central to the PNP’s Focused Agenda for a professional and dependable police service.

The Subic International Marathon also showcased the PNP’s dedication to holistic development. Police officers who joined the race demonstrated discipline and stamina, reflecting qualities critical in law enforcement operations. Beyond the physical aspect, the marathon encouraged positive interaction between the police and citizens, which was crucial for reinforcing public confidence in PNP, particularly as the organization continued to implement reforms aimed at transparency, accountability, and service excellence.

Through its involvement in activities that promote health and community cooperation, the Nation’s Peacekeepers reaffirmed their dedication to nation-building and effective policing in pursuit of a Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.
