Service That Is Truly Felt

“True public service is felt when even small acts of service create meaningful change in people’s lives.” – Unknown

Guided by its Focused Agenda on active community support, the Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to promote and implement programs that foster trust, cooperation, and sustainable peace. Central to this effort is the Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay (R-PSB) Program, which was expanded from Pulis Nyo Po sa Barangay into R-PSB in 2019. This flagship initiative aims to support community-based activities, promote peace and development, and bring government services closer to the people’s doorsteps, particularly in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs).

Through the R-PSB Program, PNP demonstrates its commitment to community partnership by transforming its mission into concrete actions that directly address local needs. These initiatives go beyond traditional law enforcement by focusing on education, health, safety, and social welfare, which are key elements in building resilient communities.

In line with this, PNP, under the leadership of Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Acting PNP Chief, exemplified service that is truly felt by the community through the successful culmination of the nutrition program and formal turnover of the Adopt-A-School Project of the R-PSB Team in Barangay Tanglagan, Gattaran, Cagayan, on January 8, 2026.

The activity was made possible through the combined efforts of the 2nd Cagayan Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), led by Police Major Jefferson D. Mukay, Acting Force Commander; the R-PSB Team, led by Police Lieutenant Francisco Pattaui, Team Leader; and Mr. Gilbert Chan, Vice President for Internal Affairs of the Company Advisory Group. During the turnover, new chairs and tables were donated to the school to improve learning conditions and provide a more comfortable and conducive classroom environment for the students.

Another highlight of the activity was the formal completion of the health and nutrition program by the thirteen children enrolled in the R-PSB Team’s initiative. As a symbol of care and encouragement, police personnel also distributed lunch boxes and tumblers to the participants.

Personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, teachers, barangay officials, and other stakeholders were present and played a significant role in the success of the program. Mrs. Jennifer Cinco, a teacher at the Child Development Center, expressed her sincere appreciation to PNP, particularly the R-PSB Team and the Advisory Group, for their continued support of education and the welfare of the children.

Residents of Barangay Tanglagan, including Indigenous Peoples leaders, Barangay Health Workers, and other community members, led by Barangay Captain Carmelo Aquino, also expressed their gratitude for the presence and service of the R-PSB Team. According to the residents, the team’s engagement significantly contributed to maintaining peace and order while strengthening trust and cooperation within the community.

The same spirit of community service was also demonstrated in Sorsogon, where the R-PSB Team of the Sorsogon 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, led by PSMS Alfonso J. Salvante, R-PSB Team Leader, extended assistance to a senior citizen in Barangay Patag, Gubat, Sorsogon, on January 11.

As part of the activity, police personnel delivered solar lights to the senior citizen’s home to ensure a brighter and safer environment at night. This initiative reflects the PNP’s continuing efforts to address practical community concerns.

Meanwhile, PLtGen Nartatez Jr. emphasized that such programs highlight the broader role of the police beyond law enforcement, stating: “Even the simplest acts of service can leave a lasting impact on the community. By supporting education, promoting children’s health, and assisting those in need, we help build a safer and better future for all. This is the kind of police service we strive to provide—responsive, committed, and trusted by the people.”

Through programs like R-PSB, PNP continues to strengthen its role as both protector and partner in nation-building. Bringing government services closer to the people ensures a unified approach to addressing local concerns and sustaining peace at the grassroots level.

No matter how simple they may seem, initiatives such as these create meaningful and lasting impact. Every step taken, from improving classrooms to bringing light to the homes of those in need, reflects the vision of a Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.
