The 2nd Platoon 1st Palawan PMFC Act of Kindness
Bridging the gap between the police and the community, police officers have become modern-day good Samaritans, extending compassionate aid to vulnerable members of their communities. Embodying selfless dedication in both law enforcement and community relations serves as a positive reminder to the public that this organization is a welcoming hand open to embrace those in need. The Philippine National Police is not limited to crime prevention but shows an embodiment of compassion.
In a heartwarming display of kindness and community spirit, the 2nd Platoon of the 1st Palawan Police Mobile Force Company (PMFC) became good samaritans to a 77-year-old scrap collector. Mr. Dominador Viray, who lived alone and has no other means of livelihood but to scavenge where he had done so for years to make both ends meet. Facing the challenges of aging and solitude without an immediate family beside him, adds up to the burden of this elderly, which stirred the emotions of the officers. Navigating each day and passing through the checkpoint with his routine of scrap collecting and riding a worn-out bicycle mirroring his physical frailty, the 1st Palawan PMFC sighted an extraordinary resilience and perseverance.
Moved by his plight and determination, the officers pooled their resources to provide a small gift for the elderly to improve his daily life. While at the checkpoint, a sudden interception by police officers puzzled him. The 1st Palawan PMFC, led by PCpt Jason B. Tesorero, Platoon Leader, carried out their little surprise for the elderly. Overwhelmed with joy and gratitude, he shed tears as he gratefully received the financial assistance for his additional capital and daily expenses, and a brand-new bicycle, a gift from the platoon intended to ease the burden of his daily work and make his trips more efficient.
“Maraming salamat sa inyo dahil sa malaking biyaya na binigay niyo sa akin at malaking tulong na ito’y ikabubuhay ko at salamat sa inyo, nawa’y maibibigay sainyo ang bendisyon ng Panginoon na lagi kayong bigyan nang lakas ng pangangatawan upang sa ganon ay marami pa kayong matutulungan na katulad ko”, Mr. Dominador Viray said, expressing his heartfelt and unending gratitude to the platoon, extending even his gratitude to the whole PNP organization.
This act of generosity exemplifies how law enforcement officers can extend their services beyond maintaining peace and order. It demonstrates how acts of kindness, even on a modest scale, can create lasting ripples of positivity within a community, especially when addressing the needs of the most vulnerable members. Doing this small, yet impactful gesture speaks volumes about their commitment. The 77-year-old Mr. Viray will forever treasure this goodness and the good act will be embedded in his heart and mind and with every pedal, he has the police in mind, strongly supporting the pursuit of the hoped-for change in the country.
