PNP Chief Marbil on Killed-in-Action’s Wake

Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, the Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), had paid a visit to the wake of Police Master Sergeant John Manuel Vocal Bongcawil, who was fatally shot while conducting casing and surveillance operations against a wanted individual at the City Mall Parking Area in Barangay Rosary Heights 7, Cotabato City on December 1, 2024.

During the said visit, Gen. Marbil had awarded the posthumous PNP Heroism Medal (Medalya ng Kadakilaan) to the late Police Master Sergeant Bongcawil for his bravery and exceptional courage in the line of duty, risking his life beyond the call of duty while carrying out the operations.

The PNP Top Cop had also offered financial assistance from PNP to Bongcawil’s family and had expressed his heartfelt condolences. He assured the family that PNP will continue to support them and that justice will be served.

Additionally, the family of the late PMSg Bongcawil had received financial aid from the Public Safety Mutual Benefit Fund Incorporated (PSMBFI) and the Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR), along with other benefits from PNP.

PMSg Bongcawil, a father of two, had joined the uniformed service on June 15, 2011, as a member of PSBRC Class 2011-01, “KALIS.”

The entire Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region led by Police Brigadier General Romeo J. Macapaz, deeply mourns the loss of PMSg Bongcawil, recognizing him as one of the PRO’s dedicated and decorated officers who have chosen to serve and protect the Filipino people with unquestionable bravery and courage.
