PNP Chief Calls for Stronger Commitment, Integrity, and Public Service Amid Rising Public Trust

During the traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony held on May 11, 2026, at Camp BGen Rafael T Crame in Quezon City, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), delivered a message emphasizing renewed commitment, discipline, integrity, and responsive public service among members of the police force.

Addressing the entire ranks, the PNP Chief began by congratulating the men and women of the organization on the encouraging results of the latest OCTA Research survey, where the PNP recorded a 63% trust rating and a 61% satisfaction rating during the first part of Calendar Year 2026.

According to Police General Nartatez, these figures reflect the growing confidence of the Filipino people in the daily efforts of police personnel nationwide. He emphasized that every patrol conducted, every crime prevented, every life protected, and every act of compassion shown to communities contributes to strengthening public trust in the organization.

The PNP Chief stressed that the recognition belongs to every police officer who continues to fulfill their duties despite the challenges of service.

“Ito ay bunga ng inyong sipag, sakripisyo, at patuloy na pagpatupad sa tungkulin sa kabila ng mga hamon ng serbisyo,” he stated.

However, the PNP Chief reminded personnel that increasing public trust should never lead to complacency. Instead, he encouraged the entire organization to work harder, serve better, and remain faithful to their oath as public servants.

Meanwhile, Police General Nartatez cited the intensified intelligence and security operations conducted nationwide following the foiled tunneling attempt at a pawnshop in Barangay Nova Proper, Novaliches, Quezon City. The incident was allegedly carried out by members of the so-called “Termite Gang,” known for tunneling and structural breaching schemes targeting commercial establishments.

The incident, according to the PNP Chief, demonstrated the evolving methods being employed by criminal groups to victimize businesses and communities. He emphasized the importance of strong coordination among law enforcement agencies, private establishments, and security personnel in preventing similar crimes.

Police General Nartatez likewise commended the personnel of Police Regional Office 5 (PRO 5) for their humanitarian response efforts in communities affected by the unrest of Mayon Volcano.

These efforts included the deployment of the KASUROG Disaster Emergency Assistance Response (D.E.A.R.) Team from the Regional Headquarters of PRO 5 to assist the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 5 in distributing hygiene kits and protective goggles to residents of Camalig and Ligao City, aimed at addressing the immediate health and safety needs of evacuees and affected families.

The Provincial Government of Sorsogon, together with personnel from PRO 5 and various offices, also mobilized efforts to deliver essential assistance to affected communities in Albay. A total of 5,000 food packs were distributed in the municipality of Guinobatan, Albay.

PRO 5, through its Regional Mobile Force Battalion 5 Emergency Response Team and Search and Rescue Desalination Team, also distributed 4,800 liters of safe drinking water to 210 families in Guinobatan, Albay. The effort reflects the PNP’s proactive response to the immediate needs of affected residents, particularly in ensuring access to clean and potable water.

The PNP Chief stated that the actions of police personnel during times of crisis reflect the organization’s commitment not only to law enforcement but also to public service and disaster response.

He further emphasized that the police badge symbolizes public trust and that all personnel must always act with integrity, humility, and respect for the rule of law. He warned against allowing personal interests, emotions, or abuse of authority to compromise the dignity of the police profession.

Concluding his message, Police General Nartatez urged all PNP personnel to remain united in strengthening public trust, building safer communities, and advancing the organization’s vision of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.”
