The Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to uphold its commitment to swift public service, ensuring that the lives of the people and the safety of the communities remain secure. Beyond crime prevention, police officers also play crucial roles in protecting lives during disasters, emergencies, and daily risks.
The Police Regional Office-Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO-CAR) has once again imprinted its reputation as the “Home of the Most Disciplined Cops” when its personnel demonstrated vigilance, bravery, and quick response in extinguishing a sparked electrical wire that could have turned into a major disaster in Sitio Apugan, Loakan, Baguio City.
Residents froze in fear on the morning of August 12, 2025, when a sudden electrical spark from a tangle of wires instantly ignited orange flames. Fortunately, personnel of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB 15), who were conducting their routine mobile patrol, spotted the danger and immediately took action.

The Technical Support Company (TSC) of RMFB 15, under the leadership of Police Captain Dennis P. Avillanoza, promptly extinguished the fire without wasting time, preventing further damage to life and property. Through teamwork and discipline, the police officers successfully suppressed the blaze and calmed the worried crowd.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Joey Jonathan B. Bagayao, RMFB 15 Force Commander, lauded the swift response and courage of his personnel, highlighting that they risked their lives to protect the community even going beyond their primary duty.
Their quick action embodied the “5-minute response time” policy of Police General Nicolas D. Torre, PNP Chief, ensuring the safety of homes and lives. Their timely and organized response not only protected the community from a potential fire, but also safeguarded nearby properties, showcasing their commitment to serve and protect the Filipino people.

Simple spark as it seems, but can cause great devastation when ignored. This incident stands as a testament to PNP’s role as first responders, ensuring that every call for help, big or small, will be met with swift public service dedicated to saving lives and protecting communities.
The Cordilleran cops remain steadfast in their commitment to public service: to respond swiftly to emergencies, with or without a 911 call, and to take immediate action whenever public safety is at risk.
