Public safety is strengthened not only through effective operations but also through institutions that invest in the knowledge, competence, and character of those entrusted with protecting communities. As the country continues to face evolving peace and security challenges, sustained collaboration among public safety institutions remains essential to developing personnel who are capable, principled, and responsive to the needs of the people they serve.
Reflecting this shared commitment, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), was honored by the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) for his significant contributions to the institution’s mission during the PPSC’s 33rd Anniversary Celebration on October 1, 2026, at Forum 3, Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City.

The celebration carried the theme, “PPSC @ 33: Advancing Innovative, Impactful, and Integrity-Driven Public Safety Governance,” and was graced by Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government Juanito Victor C. Remulla Jr., who served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

The PNP Chief received a Plaque of Recognition in grateful appreciation of his invaluable support and unwavering commitment to the vision and mission of PPSC during his tenure as a member of the PPSC Board of Trustees. The recognition also acknowledged his guidance and significant contributions to the institution’s continuing efforts in public safety education, training, and human resource development.

Throughout his tenure as a member of the Board, PGen Nartatez contributed to strengthening the country’s public safety institutions. His support underscored the importance of collaboration among agencies whose mandates converge on a fundamental objective: developing personnel who are prepared, capable, and committed to serving the public.
As the premier institution for educating and training public safety personnel, the PPSC plays a vital role in developing the competencies and leadership capabilities of those entrusted with maintaining peace, protecting communities, and ensuring public safety. Its continuing efforts ensure that public safety personnel have the technical knowledge and skills needed to perform their duties, as well as the values and professionalism expected of public servants.

The partnership between institutions such as PNP and PPSC shows that strengthening public safety is a shared undertaking, sustained not only through policies and programs but also through leaders and institutions willing to invest in the people who stand at the forefront of public service.

PGen Nartatez’s recognition serves as a testament to this continuing commitment and to the enduring value of collaboration in building stronger, more professional, and more capable public safety institutions dedicated to serving the Filipino people.
