PNP and Media Strengthen Ties at 4th PNP Press Corps Invitational Shootfest

A strong spirit of camaraderie and partnership defined the opening of the 4th PNP Press Corps Invitational Shootfest held on the morning of May 29, 2026, at Camp PMGen Tomas B Karingal in Quezon City, bringing together key officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and members of the media in a shared celebration of cooperation and mutual respect.

The event was attended by Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor C. Remulla, PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., other PNP officials, and members of the PNP Press Corps, underscoring the significance of sustained engagement between law enforcement and media personnel in promoting transparency and public service.

Now in its fourth year, the invitational shootfest continues to serve as an avenue for fostering stronger professional relationships between the police force and the media. More than a sporting activity, the program promotes sportsmanship, trust, open communication, and deeper understanding between institutions that play essential roles in ensuring public awareness and national stability.

In his message, the PNP Chief emphasized the value of continued collaboration in advancing truth, accountability, and responsible public service. He highlighted how constructive cooperation and accurate information-sharing strengthen public trust and support efforts to keep communities informed and secure.

Beyond marksmanship and friendly competition, the event symbolized the enduring partnership between the PNP and the media, recognizing the important role of journalists in delivering timely, factual, and relevant information to the Filipino people, particularly on matters concerning public safety.

The activity also reaffirmed the PNP’s commitment not only to maintaining peace and order but also to cultivating stronger relationships with key stakeholders in society. Guided by the vision of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman,” the organization continues to pursue initiatives that foster trust, cooperation, and shared responsibility for safer and more informed communities.
