PNP Holds First-Ever National Police Day, Honors Service, Excellence, and Partnership

The Philippine National Police (PNP) marked a new era in its institutional history with the celebration of its first-ever National Police Day on January 29, 2026, unifying two long-standing commemorations, the PNP Foundation Day and the Police Service Anniversary, into a single national observance. Anchored on the theme “Serbisyong Nararamdaman, Kapulisang Maaasahan,” the occasion highlighted the PNP’s continuing evolution into a modern, professional, and community-oriented police organization.

The landmark event was led by newly promoted PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. and was graced by Executive Secretary Ralph G. Recto, representing President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. Also in attendance were Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla, National Police Commission Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer Atty. Rafael Vicente R. Calinisan, House Speaker Representative Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy III, along with key government officials, other PNP officers, stakeholders, and partners from various sectors.

In his message, President Marcos commended the men and women of the police force for their vital role in maintaining peace and order nationwide. He cited significant accomplishments under the leadership of PGen Nartatez, including notable gains in crime reduction, sustained anti-illegal drug operations, and strengthened public safety initiatives.

The President reaffirmed the government’s strong support for PNP, announcing a Php226-Billion budget allocation for 2026, aimed at boosting manpower, improving infrastructure, and enhancing capacity-building programs. This includes nearly Php4Billion earmarked for information and communications technology upgrades and cybercrime capability enhancement.

“We are committed to strengthening training that improves decision-making in real-life situations, investing in systems that shorten response times, and enforcing accountability mechanisms that protect both the public and the honest police officer,” President Marcos said.

He also paid tribute to the families of police personnel, acknowledging their sacrifices and unwavering support, stating: “Behind every police officer is a family that shares the sacrifices. To them, maraming salamat. Your support and love are part of the PNP’s success story.”

President Marcos also emphasized that the Filipino people expect an effective, responsive, and professional police force—one that arrives promptly, provides help efficiently, and enforces the law with respect and competence. He noted that many officers and units have risen to these expectations, and National Police Day serves as an opportunity to recognize those who exemplify professionalism, restraint, fairness, and excellence in service.

In line with this, PNP conferred awards on outstanding personnel, PNP units, local government units (LGUs), and stakeholders whose dedication and performance have significantly contributed to public safety and community trust, reflecting the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and integrity.

Ahead of the National Police Day celebration, the PNP conducted a two-day One-Stop Shop of Frontline Services on January 22–23, 2026, at Camp BGen Rafael T Crame in Quezon City. The event was led by Police Lieutenant General Bernard M. Banac, Deputy Chief, PNP for Administration, representing PGen Nartatez, together with Mrs. Mary Rose O. Nartatez, Adviser of the PNP OLC Foundation Inc.; Mrs. Leilani S. Alba, President of the PNP OLC Foundation Inc.; Police Major General Roderick Augustus B. Alba, Director for Police Community Relations; and Police Brigadier General Vina H. Guzman, Director of the Police Community Affairs and Development Group. The initiative aimed to bring essential government services closer to police personnel and their families, ensuring faster and more convenient access to these services.

As PNP moves forward, the first National Police Day serves both as a reminder of the values that guide the organization and as a call to action for all police officers to remain true to their duty—to serve with integrity, courage, and compassion. It stands as a testament to the PNP’s enduring mission: to honor its legacy, uphold professionalism, recognize excellence, and strengthen partnerships in delivering police service that the Filipino people can truly feel and rely on.
