For over four decades, the “Long Maroon Line” has been the backbone of the nation’s peace and order, representing a lineage of leadership that traces back to the founding of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), which was officially established and activated on June 12, 1978, following its creation under Presidential Decree No. 1184 in 1977. Since then, the PNPA has served as the training ground where the country’s future leaders, known as the Lakans and Lakambinis, are shaped into officers of justice, integrity, and service.

Carrying the theme “Isang Asosasyon, Bihirang Pagkakataon, Pag-asa ng Bagong Henerasyon,” PNPA alumni from across the country returned to their prestigious alma mater on March 14, 2026, at Camp General Mariano N. Castañeda in Silang, Cavite, for the 46th PNPA Grand Alumni Homecoming.

The gathering brought together graduates from various classes for a meaningful celebration of their shared legacy and commitment to the PNPA’s ongoing mission to develop capable and principled police leaders. It also highlighted the strong bond among alumni who once trained on the same grounds as cadets preparing for public service.

The event was graced by Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), who served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. In his message, the PNP Chief encouraged members of the force to be more than disciplined officers, urging them to become leaders capable of making the right decisions even under pressure.
The PNP Top Cop also expressed strong support for the continued development of the PNPA through projects and resources dedicated to the Academy’s facilities, training systems, and leadership development programs. He emphasized the vital role of the Academy in shaping disciplined, competent, and service-oriented officers who will lead the organization with integrity and professionalism.

“Let me assure all of you today that while I serve as the Chief of the Philippine National Police, I will continue to push for meaningful improvements in the PNPA. Hindi ito mananatiling plano lamang. We will move these initiatives forward, from improving facilities to strengthening training and leadership development,” he said.
The PNP Chief also underscored the importance of discipline rooted in integrity and guided by the Cadet Honor Code, reminding cadets that honor should govern their actions both inside and outside the Academy. He stressed that the character development acquired during cadetship will ultimately shape the leaders they become. These principles form the moral foundation expected of every officer who graduates from the Academy.

He further emphasized that genuine leadership and brotherhood in the police force must be rooted in respect and responsibility rather than harmful practices. Police General Nartatez strongly reaffirmed the organization’s stance against hazing and any form of abuse disguised as tradition, stating: “Iwasan na natin iyan at tanggalin na natin iyan. True brotherhood in the police service is not built through fear, pain, or humiliation, but through mutual respect, discipline, and shared responsibility.”

The gathering also highlighted the continuing role of PNPA alumni in supporting the institution’s growth and mentoring the next generation of cadets. Alumni from different generations had the opportunity to reconnect, share their experiences in public service, and strengthen the bonds that unite them as Academy graduates.

For the cadets currently undergoing intense training at the Academy, the presence of alumni leaders from across the police service served as a strong reminder of the path ahead. Their stories of service, sacrifice, and leadership offered inspiration for the future guardians of peace and order.
More than just a reunion, the event served as a symbol of continuity across generations of police leaders. It inspires today’s cadets to uphold the proud traditions of the Academy while embodying the shared vision of a “Bagong PNP Para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman,” demonstrating the commitment of both alumni and current cadets to building a police organization grounded in honor, integrity, and excellence in service to the Filipino people.
