It was a busy week for the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) from September 8 to 14, 2025, as the men and women in uniform were relentless on the ground in response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call for a safer nation. Their collective efforts resulted in the arrest of 872 individuals involved in various crimes, proving once again that dedication and teamwork can make a real difference in the communities they serve.
For NCRPO Regional Director Police Major General Anthony A. Aberin, the numbers tell a deeper story. “Every successful operation is more than just an entry in the blotter; it is a reflection of the commitment of our police officers who put in long hours to safeguard Metro Manila. These victories belong to them, and to the people we serve,” he said.

The results of the week-long operations were indeed significant. Among those apprehended were 119 of the region’s most wanted criminals and 198 other fugitives. The NCRPO also intensified its crackdown on illegal drugs, carrying out 205 anti-drug operations that led to 299 arrests, including a high-value target and dozens of street-level pushers. Seized during these operations were 1,054 grams of shabu, 1,048 grams of dried marijuana leaves, and 209 grams of marijuana kush, with a total estimated value of Php7.6 Million.
But illegal drugs were not the only focus. Police units also targeted illegal gambling, conducting 140 operations that resulted in 295 arrests and the confiscation of nearly Php75,000 in bet money. In addition, 41 individuals were taken into custody for carrying unlicensed firearms, preventing these weapons from being used in potential acts of violence.

Community discipline was another front where the NCRPO stood firm. A total of 57,821 violations of local ordinances were recorded during the period, ranging from public drinking and smoking in prohibited areas to urinating in public places and minors breaking curfew. These violations generated Php17.4 Million in fines, which will further support safety initiatives across the region.
Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Acting PNP Chief, emphasized that behind every arrest and every confiscation lies the greater goal of restoring trust and ensuring safety. “We do not measure our success only in numbers but in the confidence of our communities that we are here to protect them,” he said.
Indeed, the week’s accomplishments serve as a reminder that policing is not just about enforcing laws; it is about building safer neighborhoods, preventing crimes before they happen, and assuring the public that their police force is always present and ready.
