PNP Boosts Capability with Php1.672 Billion Equipment Upgrade
Management of resources is one of the core pillars of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Focused Agenda, ensuring that every logistical asset, effort, and operational initiative is maximized to strengthen organizational performance and uphold transparency in public service. Guided by this principle, PNP continues to modernize its operational tools through strategic procurement and responsible allocation of equipment.

On November 17, 2025, PNP under the leadership of Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Acting PNP Chief, formally blessed and unveiled a total of Php1.672 Billion worth of newly procured equipment. These acquisitions were made possible through the Capability Enhancement Program for fiscal years 2020, 2023, and 2025, as well as the Congress-Introduced Changes and Adjustments for fiscal year 2024.
The ceremony was held in front of the National Headquarters at Camp BGen Rafael T Crame in Quezon City and was graced by the Secretary of the Interior and Local Government Hon. Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla, who served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. His presence highlighted the national government’s continued support and recognition of the police organization’s modernization initiatives. Also in attendance were PLtGen Bernard M. Banac, The Deputy Chief PNP for Administration; PLtGen Edgar Alan O. Okubo, The Deputy Chief PNP for Operations; and other key PNP officials.

A total of 10,017 mission-essential assets were presented during the activity, marking another major step toward a more responsive, modern, and well-equipped police force. These include 383 units of 4×4 personnel carriers, 32 heavy motorcycles, 225 light transport vehicles, 406 light motorcycles, and 322 unmanned aerial vehicles (drones). Also presented were 4,989 enhanced combat helmets (Level III), 505 multi-mode mobile devices, 3,000 units of 5.56mm Basic Assault Rifles (EMTAN), and 155 units of 5.56mm Light Machine Guns (MERTSAV).

These assets will be distributed across various Police Regional Offices and National Support Units to enhance mobility, intelligence gathering, police visibility, communication efficiency, firepower capability, and overall field readiness.
In his message, PLtGen Nartatez expressed his gratitude to the government for its continued support of the PNP’s modernization thrust, stating, “We thank the government for allocating this significant investment to strengthen our operational readiness.”
He further emphasized that the allocation reflects the support and commitment of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in building a safer and more secure nation. He assured that every peso allocated will be utilized with accountability, transparency, and dedication to public safety, underscoring that these enhancements convey not only the government’s trust in PNP but also the organization’s renewed obligation to deliver better results on the ground.

He also assured the public that the upgraded capabilities will lead to more efficient and reliable policing, where communities can expect a police force that responds faster, performs better, and provides greater protection. This vision embodies the essence of the Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas—a police force that is swift, honest, and truly felt by the people it serves.
The event highlighted not only the arrival of new equipment but also the ongoing transformation of PNP into a modern and service-oriented organization. With each enhancement in capability, PNP moves closer to becoming a police force that is fully equipped, well-prepared, and deeply trusted by the Filipino people.
