PROBAR Gears Up for the 2025 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Election

In preparation for the first-ever Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE), which are set to be held in October 2025 in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), the Police Regional Office BAR (PRO BAR) under the leadership of Police Brigadier General Jayzen C. De Guzman, Regional Director, consistently takes part in the Joint COMELEC, AFP and PNP Unity Walk, Candidates’ Forum and Interfaith Rallies held in different provinces and towns in BARMM. This is to boost the regional government’s readiness in the safe and peaceful conduct of BPE. Said elections serve as a critical milestone in the Bangsamoro peace process, as the region will establish its first-ever elected regional government replacing the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), with a legislature chosen by the people.

On September 3, 2025, local government authorities in BARMM once again gathered together in a similar peace initiative held at the Marawi Convention Center in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur. This was attended by key government officials including PBGen De Guzman; Brigadier General Billy O. Dela Rosa, Brigade Commander of the 103rd Infantry (Haribon) and Colonel Yasser R. Bara, Brigade Commander of the 1101st Infantry of the Philippine Army; Police Colonel Cesar Cabuhat, Provincial Director of the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office; and Attorney Renault C. Macarambon, Provincial Election Supervisor, COMELEC Lanao del Sur.

The continuing joint collaboration is actively supported by the COMELEC BARMM headed by Attorney Ray F. Sumalipao, Regional Election Director, and is being participated in by various law enforcement agencies as well as Local Government Units in the region. The provinces of Maguindanao del Norte, Cotabato City, Lanao del Sur, Tawi-Tawi, and Basilan had already conducted their respective Peace Caravan, Unity Walk, Candidates’ Forum and Interfaith Rallies.

A solemn Peace Covenant Signing was also cascaded across the region, where all candidates voluntarily pledge to maintain peace, respect the election results, and refrain from using violence or intimidation against their political opponents before, during and even after the election process. Everyone united in the call to make the elections an inspiration to promote the Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines)—a country where peace, unity, and clean governance prevail.

Meanwhile, PRO BAR remains vigilant as always in its law enforcement operations as BPE is just around the corner. Ongoing Checkpoint Operations, Red Teaming Operations, Joint Peace Security Control Center Coordinating Conferences for the Deployment Plan during the 2025 BPE with map illustration, and Threat Assessments are intensified and will continue in the days to come to ensure a peaceful and orderly elections in the region.
