The Philippine National Police (PNP) remains firm in its relentless campaign to eradicate illegal drugs while ensuring the protection of human rights and dignity of suspected drug users and dealers in the country.
In line with this strategic anti-illegal drug campaign, two identified High-Value Individuals (HVIs) were arrested in a successful buy-bust operation conducted in Arevalo District, Iloilo City at around 10:24 PM on July 26, 2025.
Police Captain Glenn Soliman, Officer-in-Charge of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU 6), identified the suspects by their aliases “Binsoy,” a resident of Zone 6, Calumpang, Molo, Iloilo; and “RM,” a resident of Zone 8 in the same barangay. The suspects initially sold one sachet of suspected shabu worth Php12,000 to an undercover operative. During the operation, authorities seized a total of approximately 530 grams of suspected shabu from the suspects, with an estimated street value of Php3,604,000.

Based on the investigation, the arrested individuals were actively involved in selling illegal drugs in both Iloilo City and the province. Authorities believe that the arrest of the two HVIs has dealt a significant blow to an ongoing drug distribution network in the region. They are now working to trace their supply chain and uncover other members of the group.
Further intelligence gathering is underway, as PNP intensifies efforts to dismantle drug syndicates operating not only in Western Visayas but also across other key areas in the country. Likewise, surveillance and coordination with other units are being strengthened to prevent the entry of drugs into local communities.
According to Police Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO 6), this accomplishment underscores the importance of strategic planning, coordination, and community support in the success of anti-drug operations. He commended the operatives for their professionalism and commitment.
In light of the arrests, PNP issued a strong reminder to the public that any involvement in illegal drug activities will not be tolerated, and that law enforcement agencies are constantly working to safeguard communities from the dangers of substance abuse.
Both suspects are currently detained at the RPDEU 6 facility while documentation and case preparation are being finalized as of this writing. They will face charges under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Local authorities have also been directed to monitor any possible retaliation or activity linked to the suspects, ensuring that their network is fully disrupted.
PNP has reiterated its call for public cooperation in the ongoing fight against illegal drugs. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activity through 911 hotlines or directly to their local police stations.
This operation is one of several successful efforts under the strengthened anti-illegal drugs campaign of PNP, in line with national directives to ensure peace, order, and a drug-free Philippines.
