The Philippine National Police (PNP) Press Corps officially welcomed its newly elected officers during a solemn Oathtaking Ceremony held on July 23, 2025, at the Bulwagang Lapu-Lapu, Camp BGen Rafael T Crame in Quezon City. The event was graced by PNP Chief, Police General Nicolas D. Torre III, who served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, alongside National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer Atty. Rafael Vicente R. Calinisan. Both officials, together with other members of the PNP Command Group and Directorial Staff, were warmly received by Police Brigadier General Randulf T. Tuaño, Chief of the Public Information Office (PIO), who also expressed his support for the newly installed officers of the Press Corps.

Leading the 2025–2026 PNP Press Corps are President Lea Ylagan (UNTV), Vice President Third Ann Malonzo (Sun Star), Secretary Cath Austria (Brigada), Treasurer Lloyd Caliwan (Philippine News Agency), Auditor Edwin Balasa (Abante), Public Relations Officer Bryan Castillo (TV5), and Chairman of the Board Mark Makalalad (DZBB). The Board of Directors includes Manny Tupas (Philippine Star), Jaymark Dagala (Radyo Pilipinas), Mark Obleada (Police Files), Edniel Parrosa (DZRH), Allen Ibañez (DZME), Ryan Lesigues (PTV4), Francis Faulve (Bilyonaryo), and Jimmy Fred Encarnacion (ABS-CBN)—a strong and capable lineup of journalists committed to accuracy, fairness, and public service.

In his message, PGen Torre underscored the growing threat of misinformation and fake news, stressing how these can distort reality and erode public trust. He reminded the newly elected officers that, in today’s fast-paced digital landscape, their role as defenders of truth is more important than ever. He called for a renewed alliance between law enforcement and the media, emphasizing that both serve the same mission: to protect the public interest.

As PNP advances its transformation efforts, it remains committed to upholding openness and constructive dialogue with the press, recognizing the media not only as storytellers but also as indispensable partners in shaping an informed and empowered citizenry.
