There are moments in service when strength is not measured by operations alone, but by the quiet acts of solidarity within the ranks. Beyond the demands of duty, compassion becomes another form of service, reminding every member of the organization that no one stands alone in life’s most difficult battles. Within this spirit, the Singing Cops of the Philippines found its purpose.
Launched in 2024 as an extension of the Online Awitan Challenge, the first season culminated in a national competition at the Music Museum in San Juan City. What began as a platform to showcase talent soon revealed something deeper. Behind every performance was a story, and behind every story was a reminder that service extends beyond duty. Through this initiative, assistance was provided to more than 150 members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) who were affected by cancer. Each performance became a channel of support, reinforcing that service within the PNP is not confined to enforcement alone, but also includes care for its own. Building on this foundation, Singing Cops Season 2 was launched with a strengthened commitment to its advocacy.

On March 25, 2026, simultaneous semi-final rounds were held nationwide, gathering entries from 18 Police Regional Offices (PROs), National Support Units, and the National Headquarters. From these, 19 finalists advanced, each carrying not only the pride of their respective units but also the weight of a shared advocacy. The program was led by the PNP OLC Foundation Inc., under the leadership of Mrs. Mary Rose Nartatez, National Adviser, and Mrs. Leilani Alba, President, in partnership with the PNP through the Directorate for Police Community Relations and the Police Community Affairs and Development Group.

The heart of the initiative remains anchored in a single purpose: to provide support to both PNP uniformed and non-uniformed personnel battling cancer. Each stage of the competition reflected this purpose, with performances marked not only by musical excellence but also by a deep sense of responsibility.
Then came the defining moment of Season 2.

On April 24, 2026, the Grand Finals were held at the PNP Multi-Purpose Center in Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City. It was a night where talent met purpose, and where every performance carried the weight of something greater than applause. Present were members of the PNP Command Group, led by Police Lieutenant General Bernard M. Banac, Deputy Chief PNP for Administration; and Police Lieutenant General Neri Vincent D. Ignacio, Chief of the Directorial Staff; alongside PNP key officials, Regional and National Unit Directors, other PNP officers and personnel, members of the PNP OLC Foundation Inc., sponsors, and the families of the finalists.

The competition was guided by a distinguished panel of judges from the music industry: Mr. Rannie Raymundo, Ms. Annie Quintos Uy, Ms. Token Lizares, Mr. Vehnee Saturno, and Ms. Dulce, whose expertise ensured that each performance was assessed with both technical precision and artistic depth.

One by one, the finalists stepped into the spotlight, not merely as competitors, but as voices carrying hope. When the final notes settled and the results were announced, PMSg Norman A. Wileman III of the National Headquarters emerged as Grand Champion. He was followed by PCpl Ana Rose M. Datanagan of PRO 11 as the 1st Runner-Up, PMSg Emelyn O. Balagot of PRO 13 as the 2nd Runner-Up, PCpl Ma Zabrina M. Doronila of PRO 6 as the 3rd Runner-Up, PMSg Procopio C. Fabillar of National Capital Region Police Office as the 4th Runner-Up, and Pat Christian D. Samonte of PRO Cordillera as the 5th Runner-Up. Each of them brought honor to their units, but more importantly, they gave voice to a cause that mattered.

Among the finalists, the journey of the Grand Champion, PMSg Wileman, stood out not to overshadow the rest, but to reflect the discipline and heart shared by all who reached the stage. For him, the competition was shaped by two weeks of intense rehearsals that exposed every weakness in his voice and tested his endurance. It was a process of repetition, exhaustion, and quiet self-doubt, where every note demanded honesty.

As the competition progressed from the Top 6 to the final announcement, he found himself caught between gratitude and a burning hope. When his name was finally called as Grand Champion, the weight of the journey came rushing in, every rejection, every sacrifice, and every moment of doubt suddenly silenced by affirmation. In that moment, he uttered a quiet prayer, “Thank you, Lord.”
His winning piece, All By Myself, was a deliberate choice that showcased his strength in powerful belting, intricate vocal runs, and emotional storytelling. More than technique, it was his ability to connect and transform vulnerability into strength that defined his performance.

But for him, the victory was never his alone. He dedicated it to his family, who stood as his first audience, loudest cheerleaders, and constant source of strength, believing in him even in moments of doubt. He expressed gratitude to his PCADG family for their mentorship, discipline, and for pushing him to become the best version of himself, proving that excellence is built not only on talent but also on hard work and guidance. To the Filipino public, he extended his heartfelt appreciation for their deep love for music, calling it an honor to perform for a nation that values artistry so deeply.

To his fellow PNP personnel, his message remains grounded and resolute. “Continue to serve with honor, lead with compassion, and protect with faith. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and your service safeguards not only lives, but also the dreams of many,” he said.
Beyond the recognition, the true triumph of Singing Cops Season 2 lies in what it continues to uphold. It reaffirmed that within the PNP, service is not limited to operational duty but is also defined by empathy, unity, and humanity. Through this initiative, music became a channel of support, and the stage became a platform for compassion. This embodies the guiding principle of Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.

As the program concluded, what remained was not silence, but something far more enduring. It was a promise carried in every song, that no one stands alone in silent struggle. In every voice that rises to carry another, hope endures. In the end, Singing Cops Season 2 was never just about music. It was about voices becoming lifelines, and a community choosing, always, to carry each other.
